[New Anime] First Impressions
14 10 2007![]()
Another late post, been suffering from a 5 months late case of May sickness, lucky me. Actually, I been living a half-OTK life to finish up a couple of series, quite enjoyable.
Well, here is a very brief impression of new anime that came out in the last 2 weeks. I did not watch all of them obviously since some of them don’t have enough visual attraction to me.
_Checked list:
Bamboo Blade> Interesting, kinda funny as well.
D.C. II: Da Capo II> Disappointing, not as good as the game nor the first one, “suki” was too easy and unrealistic.
Sketchbook: full color`s> Peaceful, good visual, and a bit interesting.
Mokke> Nice OP, other than that, a bit boring or maybe just not interesting enough.
Night Wizard> An average series, but maybe not good enough.
Suteki Tantei Labyrinth> Same as above, I dislike the main guy though.
Myself; Yourself> Based on a game that hasn’t been released yet (will be before Christmas this year), quite interesting but not particular good enough for me.
Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro> “Hannin wa omae da!”, a shonen manga based anime with detective feeling, quite funny and interesting. My schedule might be too full for it though.
Blue Drop: Tenshi-tachi no Gikyoku> Not good enough but I might change my mind on the second ep.
Dragonaut: The Resonance> The pace of this series is a lot slower than expected. Otherwise, it’s interesting and the visual is well done.
Shakugan no Shana II> After finishing watching the first series, the second series became a must watch. A slow start, just like the first but it still maintains all the goodness elements such as tsundere.
Taiho Shichauzo: Full Throttle> Dropped, not interesting.
Clannad> Perfect, better than expected, all characters are very well portrayed. Nagisa’s dad looks like Itsuki from Haruhi and her mother looks like Kamio from Air. A must watch.
Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun> Kinda funny but typical, hope for improvement in ep2.
Shugo Chara!> A shoujo manga based anime, good op, has everything that you would expected from a typical shoujo manga with magical girl, school, beautiful boys and comedy. The English prologue sounds strange.
Kidou Senshi Gundam 00> That Setsuna guy did remind of Sagara Sousuke from FMP at the opening footage but I changed my mind at the end, he is a bit too cold? and doesn’t have the likable element that Sagara has. The whole episode went exactly as I thought it would with new overpowered Gundams showed off and stuff like that. It seems as if every single Gundam has a similar start and color, very predictable. Still, better than expected, mainly because of the background story.
KimiKiss Pure Rouge> Based on a renai PS2 game and is quite good, directed by the guy who did Honey & Clover and Nodame Cantabille. The OP is very good but the whole episode 1 did feel a bit lacking in feeling. Still, it’s good enough to make me watch the next ep.
ef - a tale of memories.> Again, not as good as the game I think but a lot better than D.C.II. The anime is not bad, it actually is very well done if you don’t mind its romantic slow pace story. On the visual, I think they’re trying too hard to match Makoto Shinkai’s one and this make a certain scene seems odd.
Rental Magica> Geass!!! Nah, I had the feeling that the kaichou guy might have a special eye power since he was wearing an eye patch and I was right. That eye power was a bit lame really and this kaichou doesn’t know how a good command should sounds like. All sort of magician and religion in here. Not finding myself watching the next one though.
Juushin Enbu: Hero Tales> Quite good but poor at the same time, doesn’t give out the kind of aura that FMA did. I don’t know if the next ep will interest me.
Prism Ark> Another game based and this one is just poor and not interesting. Surely dropped.
Minami-ke> Very good, a must watch. If you like Ichigo Mashimaro, this one is similar. Ninomiya and Chiaki look good as female. The manga is very good as well.
Genshiken 2> A must watch for otaku. It’s just as good and realistic as the first one. Nonetheless, it’s not suitable for people who don’t know well or reject otaku culture, it can be quite offensive to them. If you decide to watch it, it’s best that you watch the previous series first, same goes for any other second series anime I believe.
_To be checked list:
Kodomo no Jikan> Watched the OVA and it was excellent.
Shion no Ou> Based on a good manga.
Koharu Biyori> Watched the PV and it was great, the opening song is hilarious btw.
Ghost Hound> By I.G, based on an original concept of Ghost In the Shell creator, good staffs.
Clamp In Wonderland 2 1995-2006> Kobato!!!
